ULF To Protest Rongen's Continued Employment On June 13
The ULF is sponsoring a very special public display prior to the June 13 home match vs. the MetroStars to protest Kevin Payne's gutless decision to not fire Thomas Rongen.
Fans are encouraged to bring signs and banners displaying their opinions about the Dynamic Duo of Payne and Rongen, and to wear black armbands over white shirts.
The protest will begin at 5:30pm outside the entrance to the player's parking lot, and will move to Gate A at around 6:30pm.

Who is to blame for Thomas Rongen inexplicably maintaining his position as Head Coach of D.C. United?
D.C. United President & General Manager Kevin Payne is to blame. In our opinion, Payne rode on the coattails of United's first coach, Bruce Arena, as Arena built the team into a dynasty from scratch. After Arena departed the club after the 1998 season, Payne hired the journeyman coach Rongen to attempt to continue the dynasty. Payne's widely-known arrogance and ego prevent him from firing Rongen, since doing so would be a defacto admission of his failure in hiring Rongen in the first place. |
